Product Application: A shift position sensor (sensing and encoding the shift lever position) with power-train network (CAN-C) communications and additional I/O functions including starter interlock, park lock, reverse lock control, and back-up light control. The product also features a mission-critical transmission range-sensing function, for which the customer required a 0.1 degree resolution non-contact sensing solution.
The KDS Solution: KDS engineered a real-time operating system, a CAN based module, with self diagnostic capability and in-vehicle reprogram ability that performs the safety-critical vehicle functions. The product's non-standard production requirements, including critical assembly tolerances, demanded further innovative thinking. The module is suitable for use in shift-by-wire applications.
